Dragonfly's Rest with Leanne O'Shea
My name is Leanne. I am a business owner, educator, and counsellor with a long-standing professional focus on grief, loss, and change. My work spans workplace, community, and education settings, supporting individuals and organisations to respond to loss with compassion, confidence, and understanding.
In 2012, I established my private practice and training campus. Since then, I have worked as a professional educator, counsellor, VET trainer, and speaker, building a strong national reputation in grief and bereavement education.
Driven by my passion for this work, I founded the South West Grief & Loss Centre—now Grief WA—to create a safe and welcoming space that fosters connection and open conversation around death, dying, and bereavement. At my beautiful centre, individuals and communities can access workshops, personal counselling, retreats, and respite accommodation, providing time and space to process thoughts, feelings, and emotional experiences.
As a licensed Grief First Aid Instructor, I expanded my impact through Grief WA by working collaboratively with Grief First Aid to deliver education and training across workplaces and communities.
I maintain a strong commitment to strengthening grief literacy and supporting informed, compassionate responses to loss wherever it is experienced. I have a long-standing professional relationship with organisations including MNDA WA, Heart Hub South West - Road Trauma Support, Palliative Care Services, and a wide range of community support agencies across Australia. My experience also includes many years working with the Busselton Hospice Unit, serving as Vice Chair of Compassionate Communities South West, and delivering public speaking and training programs across both the private and not-for-profit sectors.
