Katy Small is a Feltmaker, Textile artist and teacher.
Katy Small is a Feltmaker; Textile artist and teacher. She has worked for almost 25 years as a teacher of Art and Textiles, before establishing her own small business last year. She now trades at Craft Fairs; runs workshops and sells her work which includes a new range of felting kits for children and adults.
Katy runs wet felting workshops local to her home in West Yorkshire. In the workshop, you will learn the ancient craft of wet felting to create artwork or a 3D item, such as bags and purses. You can create a picture for your home; a bag or purse for yourself or as a gift. She is currently organising workshops for children where they can also produce a product or picture.
Katy works mainly with Merino wool, using felting and embroidery to create landscape stories and unique fabrics. Changing skies, seasons and rural scenes inspire her work. She is currently making wearable accessories and clothing using the same felting techniques. Katy has exhibited her work for some years and can be found at local artisan fairs and exhibitions. She is a member of the International Feltmakers Association as well as local art groups.
