ColCHESSter is promoting chess for everyone, from the chess-curious to the dedicated chess-hobbyists, on the street and in cafes, pubs and other venues. With a focus on the city of Colchester, Essex, UK ColCHESSter’s aims are to:

• raise awareness of the benefits of chess, to people and places
• identify and publicise places to play chess
• campaign for public chess tables
• bring together chess players, especially those not yet wanting to join an established club
• learn lessons in Colchester that can inform others who want to promote chess elsewhere

ColCHESSter's events are generally chess meetups or free popup chess. A popup might be on a community day, in a library, at a village event or a cafe/pub, especially where a social chess club might meet in the future. ColCHESSter can provide tables, seating, boards and pieces, clocks and information as well as instruction and enthusiasm.
