The Friends of Key Hill Cemetery and Warstone Lane Cemetery formed in 2004 to care for these two historic sites where the city’s forefathers rest, whose stories are told in our Extraordinary Lives Tours 1 and 2.

The Friends Open Days, give you the chance to view inside the empty Birmingham Catacombs in each cemetery.

While other groups and individuals may also organise tours of these historic locations, it is important to note that all revenue generated by the Friends goes directly towards restoration efforts. The Friends are unique in this regard, as we are the only organisation solely dedicated to using tour proceeds for the preservation and restoration of these two Grade II listed historic sites. By supporting the Friends you're helping to safeguard these important Birmingham Heritage landmarks for future generations.

Our group is dedicated to preserving Birmingham's heritage, supporting cemetery maintenance, and fostering community interest in local history.

We organise regular fundraising events, carry out maintenance activities, and offer research assistance for those exploring their family history. We maintain burial indexes and provide guidance to visitors seeking information about relatives buried here.
