Making Families Count C.I.C.

Making Families Count is an organisation dedicated to improving patient safety through collaboration with families. Working in partnership with health and care agencies, they help to develop systems and structures that support safer, more compassionate care by ensuring the voices and experiences of families are at the centre of all patient safety efforts.

The organisation's core values are:

Collaboration: Working in partnership with both families and professionals.

Authentic: Sharing lived experiences to foster genuine understanding.

Compassionate: Acknowledging and understanding the distress and bereavement families may face.

Power dynamic: Recognising and addressing the power imbalances in co-production.

By embedding the perspectives of families into governance structures and throughout the patient safety process—from prevention to investigation and learning—Making Families Count helps organisations achieve better patient outcomes and improved safety.
