Roots and Branches
The mission of Roots and Branches is "To grow a more beautiful community today and plant seeds of pride and stewardship to improve the natural environment of West Bend tomorrow." And, our vision is "To inspire all who live, work and visit to appreciate and care for the natural environment of West Bend."
It all started 30 years ago when Maridel Sager, and a group of about 20 volunteers, organized the West Bend Beautification Committee (now Roots and Branches) with official bylaws on July 2, 1990. The first project was the Mayor’s Beautification Awards followed by the establishment of the first Daylily City. The Adopt-A-Plot program was next on the agenda, then the Arbor Day Program and the Clean-up Campaign. These programs continue today as staples in our mission’s arsenal to improve the environment.
In addition to these programs, Roots and Branches has also added free seminars on a wide variety of gardening subjects throughout the year.
Roots and Branches is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, operating solely for charitable and educational purposes with contributions of material, time, and monetary support from individuals, businesses, corporations, and foundations.
To add to these donations, we have three key fundraising events throughout the year, a Plant Sale in May featuring locally grown annuals and perennials, a Gardens of West Bend Tour in July, and this Garden Party Awards Recognition and Fundraiser normally held in September.
