Abuela Neighborhood Maintenance
Abuela Neighborhood Maintenance (ANM) is a grassroots art and stewardship organization based in Queens Village and Hollis, two of the "hardest-hit" COVID-19 neighborhoods in Queens. Our goal is to bring resources to our neighborhood to address issues in food justice, lack of cultural programming, and beautifying shared public spaces suffering from neglect, litter, or illegal dumping. ANM was founded in April 2020 by Angela Miskis, a first-generation Ecuadorian American BIPOC woman, artist, and community organizer. We blend art and activism in all aspects of our work to help amplify our goal of creating more community unity and self-reliance.
